We made it!

We arrived in Madrid on Sunday around lunch time and headed out into the city to get lunch where we had no clue what to order (food is a litttttle strange here). We walked around, checking out all of the beautiful architecture and old buildings. The city is so clean and so green and there are no skyscrapers. There are lots of parks and gardens here which is a surprise since it's a big metropolitan city. We rode on the top of a double decker bus and got an hour and a half long tour of the city, such a European thing to do. We heard that things happen much later around here (people eat breakfast around 10, lunch around 2, and dinner around 8, then go out around 11 all night!) I wanted to cry when I heard this since I like to go to bed early. But we realized it was true when the sun was still shining at 9pm. Literally shining..like I could lay by the pool and get a tan. Mom was passed out since we took a red eye flight (we were all a litter delirious from lack of sleep) but Jacob and I still went out to check out the city some more. We went to this awesome open market where they serve all of Spain's famous food and what not. Jacob and I got mini gelato cones and they were the cutest things ever. We passed out in the hotel and all just woke up at 10am here. We are heading out to get some Euros and some kind of cell phone before we hail a cab to the airport for a flight to Rome! I have been practicing by Spanish here but unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the Italian language...soooo we will have to see how successful we are at communicating in Italy, should be an adventure. More pictures and updates to come!
