Hola mis amigos! I wish someone was here to take care of my hand that just got attacked by a parakeet. Esperanza let me feed the birds out of my hand for a good 30 mins while she gave me the low down on the parakeet fam. I am getting more and more familiar with their names, who's related, how they're related, where their species originated from, who has been wounded and taken to the vet, etc, etc. Maybe I should switch my major from Spanish to Ornithology! I love living here so much, it's my favorite part of being in Spain, actually. Esperanza walks us to the elevator everyday, makes sure we have our metro passes, kisses us on each cheek 2 times, makes sure we have a jacket and umbrella and sends us off to school. Then when we come home she asks her niñas how school was, if we have homework, and makes us tea.
I started school yesterday. It's way different than going to class in Auburn where I go for 50 minutes and then leave and go to another class in another building for 50 minutes again, later in the day. Here, I stay in the same classroom from 8:30-1, taking class at 1 1/2 hours a time. It'll be awesome when I go to class in the fall in Auburn..I'll feel like I'm just stoppin by to say hello to my professor! My classes are going to be pretty tough. There are 8 people in my class who all speak fluently. The girl that sits next to me is from Italy and speaks English, Italian, French, Portugese (can't even spell that) and Spanish. And here I am, strugglin to still get my English right. Esperanza made sure I did my homework (I talked her into giving me a little help while I was at it).
I got to skype with Mindy, Mom and the babies yesterday. Esperanza was on the camera chatting away in Spanish and I was helping translate. Sydney knows some Spanish from her TV show, Diego. She was so cute talking in Spanish saying "hola" "sí" and "cómo estás?" haha just picture it! I miss them so much but I will get to see all my peeps so soon. A month ago today, I left for Spain. And now I have traveled to so much places. Here is my count so far: Madrid, Spain; Rome, Italy; Florence, Italy; Siena, Italy; Fiesole, Italy; Venice, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; Minorca, Spain; and Toledo, Spain. Today is Friday..yippie! I'll probably be heading to the park today and then we have a day excursion to Segovia tomorrow. Well it's time to go catch the metro..which is so fun by the way! I get to listen to my ipod while I ride everywhere.
Hope everyone has a great Friday!!
I will take care of your hand!!
